my diploma paper
when we were asked to look for our subjects on the assessment, I thought to myself.. I can do a fab makeover! Perfect opportunity to deck out some plain Jane and make her look AB-SOOOO-LUTE-LY drop-dead-gorgeous but I think its easy to make someone who hasnt really been made up to look “hot”.
A ton of make up, sexy clothes, the right hair, and a perfect expression for that tell tale photograph and viola you got yourself a temptress in the making!
We see many plain Janes gracing those super sexy borderline sleazy magazines (im being nice) now a days. But that’s not what I’m trying to accomplish with my life – with this site.
My ultimate goal with everything I am learning is to give people (more close to my heart my beautiful fellow Filipinos) a higher learning on what some may call superficial matters but in this day and age; some very relevant concerns on perception and conception.
In my travels almost each time I’m asked by strangers where I am from (and this happens almost 100% of the time) I proudly say I am Filipino and the reception I get is a skeptical one.
One day I shall elaborate more but for now I will tell you that a few times it’s accompanied by some unpleasant side comments. I can confidently say FIlipinos are the most beautiful race in Asia, if not the world! Whether mixed with foreign blood or purely native Manilanian ,Cebuano, Ilokano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Kapampangan, Bikol, Pangasinan, Tausug, Maguindanao, Maranao, Kinaray-a, Chavacano and the list goes on.. We ARE beautiful! Not only physically but our hearts are so loving and appreciative also. We all just need to help make over our nation to shake off the generations of ugliness we have inherited from bad influences, poor practices and negative examples we have taken in.
Sometimes these things are instilled unconsciously, its in what we read, watch, hear! Most times not voluntarily cause it’s in our commercials, billboards, radio announcements, INTERNET, news paper ads. ITS EVERYWHERE.
It’s shame to say that we are really forgetting that God is alive and He is everywhere and see’s everything.
If you can have a say on things : turn it off, change the station-channel, turn the page, look away, throw it away. It’s sinful and will not grow you in a positive way. Unknowingly these things are in our subconscious and bothers us makes us insecure, uncertain, critical, and negative.
A few of you are probably thinking BLAH BLAH BLAH go on, get on with the photos SHOW ME YOUR WORK! This IS my work. What I am trained to do is to help you, you who are reading this and want that make over to do things from the inside out!
Change your heart, change your mind.. and the outer appearance will be seamless! All things -Godly is HAPPINESS and happiness is the best face lift!
It’s true : Aanohin mo ang magandang damit kung ang ugali mo naman, sobrang panget!?
(excuse my tagalog/spelling I’m sure you understand)
We aren’t going to judge, per say that would be awful. I do know though that many ill hearted people aren’t ashamed to admit with their words and in their actions that they are judgmental and superficial.
At times it can be difficult to see a person with bad character, specially when those people are great to disguise. But if you listen to a persons heart while you look the person in the eye, you can not just SEE beauty but FEEL it. Sometimes we also tend to look at actions and results. Be careful to assume someone is nice because they do charitable deeds (its a great gesture but God is not impressed by works) in the same respect do not think a person who commits mistakes or makes bad choices is an evil person (intent is always important).
No matter what we need to pray for people we come in contact with. Afterall things happen for a reason
One of our requirements for the diploma assessment was to have someone with inner and outer issues. For my case study her inner issues were because of her outer appearance.
I monitored her for a few weeks and met multiple times 2-4hours each time. We tackled many things exchanged advice and concerns.. Kept in constant text.
I can’t get into complete detail so I will give you the gist in photographs.
The first time I met her was 5 months ago, she came in with her head down problematic about her hair.

so i put more structure and also gave her some color to break it up put texture that adds softness and created a direction for her curls to follow

then 2months later because she was too lazy to maintain the style she allowed her mother (untrained) to reduce it to this

so then we had to come to an agreement on her new look, she wanted Halle Berry’esque and so I tried to get as close as I can since we couldn’t use too many ingredients on her

I already posted her photos w make up a few weeks ago. you can look through my archives.
I taught her step by step for her daily routine and another technique for evening.
My subject is still a student, she doesnt have much of a social life and is focusing on her studies and finding a part time job to help support her tuition. She basically relies on allowance to fund her everyday activities.
It was a tough job, but with determination from the both of us I was able to coax her through it
First I went through her closet which composed mainly of the traditional muslim saya.. She had a few casual pieces and it would have been a waste to throw of give away. So here are some ways she can wear what I found to work or to get coffee with some gal pals

Then considering her budget, constraints&restrictions, body shape, style personality, and needs I helped her chose the FF outfits.
AND w option to be more corporate w something over it
Then we came across a SALE!! yey! And so she was able to purchase her very first OWN pair of heeled shoes that can be worn both casually and with work clothes
She was such a trooper! God has so much in store for her. I hope the change makes a difference in her outlook in life and helps open up endless possibilities with her new found confidence in herself.

I am Waray and I am well proud of it! Like you, I am always mistaken to be Indian, Latina or something else BUT Filipino. When I tell them I am from THE Philippines more often than not there’s a look of disapproval/smirk. It’s demeaning at times. Lalo na pag kapwa mo Asian. Mas maigi pa mga Westerners minsan. My colleauges in THE UK – German, Brits, Polish etc always asks me what I was doing there. They keep telling me I’m lucky to be from a lovely country. A tropical paradise. And they are right. It’s not just the country but the countrymen. We have the biggest hearts. Shame of us don’t see it. We just have to look within. Sometimes we don’t realise how lucky we are to be blessed with so much culture. The trait I am proudest of is how Filipinos value their families. Kaya nga ako I always say to myself, u can take the girl out of The Philippines but u can never take the Philippines out of the girl. Indeed, home is always where the heart is!

you’re right about beauty is not just skin deep. Its how people feel about themselves that makes them beautiful. God is good, He works His miracles.

When seeing this web page I just saw some kind of weird code all over the web site . such as Attention: Cannot change body tag … and so on. It is likely my Workstation , because of I yet previously had zero time to update and i’m still making use of google Chrome 2 but my own homepage with popular ones such as, google.com and yahoo.com cause me absolutely no problems, therefore it is actually a little bit abnormal.
